Biography

She has gone on to win numerous competitions including the Korea Germany Brahms Association Concourse, Se-gye times Music competition, Sung-Jung Music, Em-ak Chun-chu Music and Music Education News Concourse, Music Concourse, Korea Herald music competition, Seoul Philharmonic competition, the Phone Classic National Student Music Competition, and CBS music competition. Upon winning first prize the CBS National student music competition she was invited to perform for CBS in concert.       

Junghyun Park, a native of Seoul, Korea, began playing the violin at the age of four. Since then, she won the grand prize in the 1999 Korea Music competition, and she began her musical studies in the pre-college division of the Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts at the age of ten. Continuously, she studied at Seoul Art High School and went on to earn her Bachelor of Music degree from Seoul National University. Ms. Park is a recipient of the Artist Diploma at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. She worked with internationally renowned violin pedagogue, Mauricio Fuks and served as a teaching assistant to Mauricio Fuks during her Artist Diploma studies. Junghyun had served as concertmaster and principal violin in Indiana University orchestra and Indiana chamber orchestra.  Ms. Park has had the honor of working her chamber music studies with world-renowned musicians such as Arnaldo Cohen, André Watts, Grigory Kalinovsky, Sibbi Bernhardsson, Masumi Rostad, Stephen Wyrczynski. She also completed a course of viola and baroque violin. Especially she learned baroque violin with Stanley Ritchie who is a distinguished professor of music in violin and early music and has performed in Indiana University Baroque and classical orchestra as co-concertmaster alongside a wide range of renowned professional musicians, Elizabeth Blumenstock, John Butt, Bojan Cicic, and Joanna Blendulf. 

Junghyun has participated in masterclasses with renowned musicians, such as Sergey Kravchenko, Charles Castleman, Sung Sik Yang, Paivyt Meller, Mi-kyung Lee, Noah Bendix-Balgley. As an active chamber musician and a recitalist, Junghyun has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. Her festival appearances included Summer Music Festival with HWAUM Chamber Orchestra in Korea, Villefavard Musicale Academie in France, and the Orford Music Academy in Canada. Her solo, chamber and orchestral performances have taken her to venues such as Musikverein Goden saalas in Vienna, Bratislava radio hall in Slovakia, concert hall and IBK chamber hall in Seoul Art Center in Korea, as well as stages across Canada, Germany, and France.  She is currently an active recitalist and performs regularly with the San Diego Symphony.
